The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Thursday, September 24, 2009 Owen S. Holtan, 94, of Cottonwood, died Sept. 22, 2009. He was born July 19, 1915, in Stoughton, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Ingebar Christina (Emma) Monson Holtan. He attended Stoughton High School and was a graduate of University of Wisconsin where he received his Bachelors degree. His career was an electrical engineer in aerospace, working in design and testing at Martin-Marietta in power dispatch and meter testing. Mr. Holtan designed, built and lived in a solar heated home. He was a Lutheran and a Presbyterian and rewired a church in Rico, Colorado. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, ice skating, skiing, gardening, hiking, swimming, writing the Holtan family history, studying Norwegian, visiting Norway and tracing ancestry. His wife, Rosamond, his parents and a sister Judith Stolen preceded him in death. He leaves a son, Stan Holtan (Phyllis) of Morrison, Colorado; daughters, Linda Schlabach (Ron) of Litchfield Park and Bonnie Jones (Bob) of Cottonwood; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 4 PM. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception room. A service will also be held at the Crown Hill Mortuary with burial in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheatridge, Colorado. Donations in his memory may be made to Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S.
