Benjamin Forrest Ridge, Jr. August 3, 1917 - August 19, 2003 "YABA" Born August 3, 1917, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Benjamin F. & Nellie R. RIDGE you began a journey that took you to many different places and along the way touched countless lives.

Throughout your life you tackled difficult challenges and met them head on, whether it was fighting for your country in the Pacific Islands during WW II, to the 30 plus years of dedicated service you gave to thousands of students during your career as a public school educator, or the personal sacrifices you made while serving in the Peace Corps in Africa. Papa, the one thing about you that was your trademark was your stories. So many of us loved hearing the stories of your early years growing up in Phoenix, your experiences in the war and the incredible places that you visited, along with your vast and never ending knowledge of history, culture and world affairs. You were like so many protective fathers, always telling his children what, how and when they should be doing something the right way.

All of us growing up knew it was coming when you would start out your sentence with "Child, Listen to me!" Your love for your children was accepting, unconditional and at times tough, (hard to keep that Marine Corp Drill Sargent out of you!) but you just wanted to take care of us in your own unique way.

You did that for so many other people, some you even considered to be like one of your own kids. Daddy, we send you off to your new eternal life where you are reunited to celebrate with many family, loved ones, and friends.

All of us who love you take great comfort and joy in the knowledge that when you transitioned into your eternal life you were met by all of them, most notably to you your beloved mother Nellie and your youngest daughter Monica.

This is not a goodbye, but rather a greeting from one of your favorite songs, "I'll Be Seeing You". So to our YABA, P-Pa, Papa, Daddy, Grandpa, Ben, Benny, Mr. Ridge, mentor, and friend we will all be seeing you again. We love you always. Thank-you for everything you gave to each and every one of us. From Your Children, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchild, Extended Family & Friends.
