The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Tuesday, September 01, 2009 Virginia May Collis, 88, of Cottonwood, died August 19. She was born December 18, 1920 in Los Angeles, California, graduated from Eagle Rock High School and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at California State University, Long Beach. She was a homemaker and accomplished artist and sculptor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; Olympian William H. Collis of New York City; her twin sister, art teacher, Barbara Brooks. She leaves her two daughters, Barbara Prats of Cottonwood, and Melinda Hammerle of Cornville, and four grandchildren, U.S. Army veteran Reid Metcalf, Cameron Metcalf, Clay Prats and Joy Prats, and one great-grandchild, Mason Metcalf.
