The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 14, 2004, p. B11 Alfred Erie, 84, died Dec. 16, 2003 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz. He was born Nov. 28, 1918 in Spokane, Wash. to Jens Erie and Dagny (Meek) Erie. Alfred graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. He was an award winning tennis player. Alfred was offered scholarships for both University of Washington and Washington State University. He declined a football scholarship to Washington State University and pursued his tennis career. He served our country during World War II in England. Alfred was a tennis pro in South Gate Park, Calif. In the 1950’s Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach, Calif., in the 1960s, Castle Hot Springs, Ariz. in the 1970’s, and the Seattle Tennis Club in Seattle, Wash. in the 1970s and the Harrisburg Country Club in Pennsylvania in the 1970s and 1980s. Alfred is survived by three nieces and two nephews. Private services have been held. The Hampton Funeral Home of Prescott, Ariz. Was entrusted with the arrangements. |
