The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ March 24, 2004, p. A12 Joyce Lorene Armstrong Joyce passed away on Jan. 4, 2004. She was born on May 7, 1924 in Bancroft, Neb. She was married to John Armstrong on Oct. 26, 1944. During John's military career she lived on several stateside bases and also lived in Guam and Japan. They settled in Sacramento, Calif. where she was active in the Seniors Gleaners and the Rock Rollers Gem and Mineral Association. They then relocated to Congress in 1980. Joyce was then active in the Food Bank at its original location, and also in the Kiwanis Club of Wickenburg-Congress. She loved to travel, camp, and fish. She stayed active in these things until she no longer felt able to do so. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Esther Wheatley; sister Kathleen Bacher; and son Gary Earl Armstrong. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Armstrong of Congress, and many friends in Congress, California, and Florida. Per Joyce's written instructions, there were to be no services. Her body was donated to Science Care of Arizona for transplant and research study.
