Charles F. (Mac) McCoy

Charles F. "Mac" McCoy, a resident of Wickenburg and Pagosa Springs, Colo. died May 27, 2004 in Durango. Mr. McCoy was born Nov. 14, 1917 in Independence, Mo. Following graduation from the University of Chicago he served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II. While stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. he married Donna Kathleen Kilmer in North Kansas City, Mo. on Nov. 21, 1942.

Following discharge after the war Mr. McCoy was employed as an attorney for the State of Kansas and by the National Labor Relations Board in Kansas City. In 1951 he began a career in the oil and gas industry with Sinclair Oil Company, which took the family to Independence, Kan., Tulsa, Okla., and New York, N.Y. where he served as corporate secretary. He subsequently spent many years in the oil business with smaller corporations in Houston, San Diego and for nearly 30 years in the Denver area. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of several corporations.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Charles of Sacramento, Calif., Robert of Wickenburg and Martha Jane Ness of Tucson; five grandchildren. Mac was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg. He was an accomplished horseman and tennis player.

Private family services were held May 30, 2004 in the San Juan National Forest.
