Flagstaff, Arizona

Antonia Baca was a long time resident of Flagstaff, who died on Friday, January 2, 2009. She was born on April 5, 1934 in Williams, AZ and came to Flagstaff with her family where she has lived for the past 67 years. She attended Flagstaff High School and for more than 50 years she was employed by the late John and Betty Babbitt and later their grandson William (Fon) Cordasco.

Antonia was several things to different people, but above all she depicted the true meaning of a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She treasured her family and her life revolved around the welfare of her loved ones. She unselfishly gave to her family as well as others while placing her needs last. Regardless of what she most treasured, she would give whatever she had if it made someone else happier.

She had been ill for several years, but her strength, spirit and love for her family drove her courageously beyond the normal limits of pain that most individuals can endure. Antonia was a humble person who avoided being the focus of attention, but her loss leaves a notable gap left by someone who will be very missed by family and friends.

Mrs. Baca is survived by her daughter, Gloria (Luis) Valencia; sons, Lawrence (Judy) Baca and Ricky (Marlene) Baca; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Rose Hernandez, Amelia Garcia, Frances Garcia; brothers, Johnny Rodriguez and Jesse Rodriquez. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Baca, her loving parents and two brothers.

An evening vigil and holy rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 7:00 pm and Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 10:00 am both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, 224 S. Kendrick. Burial will follow services at the Calvary Cemetery, 201 W. University, Flagstaff.
