Arizona Daily Sun Flagstaff, Arizona Thursday, June 18, 2009 Haward "Howard" Cole, 82, of Ash Fork, died Monday, June 15, 2009. Mr. Cole was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Opp, Ala., to John and Peninsula (Thornton) Cole. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and working his land on his 1941 tractor. Mr. Cole is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jeanette; daughters Debbie Murphy and Tammy (Brantley) Doering; sons Henry (Lisa) Hayes and Troy Cole; sister Myrtle Jones; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sula Cole; brother Willis; and sisters Lodie and Trudy B. Visition will be today at 6 p.m. at Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth St., in Flagstaff. Graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Citizens Cemetery, veterans section. Veterans honors will be rendered by the, VFW No. 1709, Marine Corp League, Military Order of the Purple Hearts, American Legion No. 3.
