Arizona Daily Sun Flagstaff, Arizona Sunday, August 09, 2009 Judith Claire Peterson, 58, of Flagstaff died on Aug. 7, 2009, at the Flagstaff Medical Center. She was born on July 16, 1951, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Richard Frederick and Rita Fredericka Hofstee Peterson. As a young girl, Judy and her family moved from New York and made Arizona their home. For many years, Judy worked as a registered nurse for the Flagstaff Medical Center. She loved her home and her work at the medical center, but her love for animals was always her passion. Over the years, Judy took in many rescued dogs, giving them a loving home. Her dogs were her family and her legacy. Judy loved to go hiking in the woods around Flagstaff and any wildlife sightings of deer, elk or squirrels made her hike a big success. Judy is survived her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Van Cravens of Rio Rancho, N.M., and by her extended family and many friends at the Flagstaff Medical Center. A memorial service will be Monday, Aug. 10, at 9 a.m. at the Little America Hotel East Lawn, 2515 E. Butler Ave. Judy will be interred next to her mother, Rita, at the Citizens Cemetery, 1300 S. San Francisco St., at 11 a.m. Those who knew Judy will remember her love of animals.
