Prentice Beaty

Prentice Beaty, 85, died Aug. 26, 2009, in Flagstaff. He was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Jasper, Texas.

Mr. Beaty came to Winslow in 1956 to work for the railroad as a chair car attendant and security guard. After retiring from the rail he went to work for Walmart and later for the school district.

Mr. Beaty is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rebecca Beaty; daugthers Doris Pugh of Stockton, Calif., and Annette Ratliff of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons Donnie Beaty of Altadena, Calif., Michael Beaty of Mesa, Prentice Dean Beaty of Spokane, Wash., and Robert Beaty of Winslow; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m., at Greer's Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the same location, followed by interment at Desert View Cemetery.
