The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 20, 2005 Thomas Warren Anderson - Tom was born May 30, 1940 in Medway, Ohio to Alan and Opal ANDERSON. He passed away at his home in Tucson, Arizona on February 13, 2005 at the age of 64. A Tucson resident since 1976, he is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Jeroll "Jeri", daughter Susan, son Thomas and daughter-in-law Andrea. Survivors also include his sisters Deanna HALL and Linda ANDERSON of Scottsdale, and Joyce (Bill) ROBERTS of Phoenix, together with numerous nieces, nephews and a large set of friends. Tom moved to Arizona from New Carlisle, Ohio to attend Arizona State University. He graduated in 1963 with a Civil Engineering degree. He worked for the United States Geological Survey in Phoenix, Flagstaff, and Tucson. He was accredited as a Registered Professional Hydrologist by the American Institute of Hydrologists in 1983. Working with USGS allowed Tom to travel and work on projects throughout Arizona. He served as Subdistrict Chief in Flagstaff from 1974 to 1976 and Subdistrict Chief in Tucson from 1985 to 1990. He retired from USGS in 1990 and joined Errol L. Montgomery & Associates, Inc. As supervisory hydrologist in the Tucson office, Tom coordinated several South American projects in Chile and Peru and also traveled to Moscow, Russia, on a company exchange program. In 1995, Tom was named a Principal of M & A. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and was well respected by his colleagues. Tom was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and served on several committees and task-committees of the Water Resources Engineering Division and Ground Water Committee. He was also a member of the National Ground Water Association and Arizona Hydrological Society. Tom enjoyed listening to country music, eating Mexican food, and cheering on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tom was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping. Every year he would go dove and quail hunting with his dogs, Sunny and Mack. He tried never to miss the annual SAPJAMS outing with his friends. Tom was very involved in his shooting sports. He served on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Skeet Shooting Association (ASSA) from 1979 to 1985 and was Secretary-Treasurer of the Tucson Trap and Skeet Club for many years. Honored by his skeet shooting friends, Tom was awarded membership to the Zone 7 Skeet Shooting Association's Hall of Fame in 1999 and the ASSA's Hall of Fame in 2004. Tom was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Tom's ashes will be scattered at his favorite hunting location in southern Arizona.
