Clifford Rodney (Sarge) Eagar

Clifford Rodney "Sarge" Eagar, 70, a lifelong resident of Eagar, died at home, surrounded by his family, Nov. 23, 2003.

Rodney was born in Eagar June 8, 1933. He was one of four sons born to Ross Albert and Ellen Eagar. Rodney joined the Marine Corp and served during the Korean Conflict, thus the nickname "Sarge" which stuck for the remainder of his life. Sarge was a family man. He and his wife Neita had six children. He loved the outdoors and took every available opportunity to go hunting, fishing or camping.

He is survived by his wife, Neita of Eagar; sons, Michael Troy (Anna) Eagar of Mesa, Timothy Scott (Chelay) Eagar of Eagar and Jason Lee (Mistie) Eagar of Eagar; daughters Lana Roneen (Steve) Crick, of Eagar and Tina Lou (Leon) Slade, of Eagar; mother Ellen Eagar of Eagar; brothers Edwin (Gloria) Eagar of Eagar and Lewis Eagar, of Eagar; also 23 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Ross Albert Eagar; infant son, Clifford Rodney Eagar, Jr.; and a brother Marvin Eagar.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Eagar Stake Center, Wednesday, Nov. 26. Interment will be at the Eagar Cemetery.

Jewkes Mortuary, Springerville is in charge of arrangements.
