Sonja was born in Morenci and raised in Kingman where she attended elementary school and part of high school. She graduated from Round Valley High School with the class of 1958, worked on the yearbooks and was the school newspaper editor. Sonja was active in student activities and was one to keep the class organized, and she followed up with that for the many years following. Sonja became an Avon Lady and loved her friends there. She also worked during tax season for 10 years at Harrington Financial Services. Sonja worked as a waitress, always keeping busy. She finally fulfilled a lifelong desire to work in a funeral home and has been the secretary and receptionist at Owens Mortuary since they opened their new funeral home in Eagar.

Sonja became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after she and Pete were married. She served in various capacities in the church including primary president and worked in the relief society. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hauling wood and riding three wheelers in the mountains with her friends. She also loved her dogs and enjoyed caring for them.

Pete died in July 28, 1991, and she missed him so very much. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and a sister.

Sonja is survived by her three daughters, Tobi (Mike) Puzzi of Eagar, Connie (Kevin) Brackett of Lehi, Utah, and Donna (Steve) Johnson of Eagar; one sister, Peggy Hill of Phoenix; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
