The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 15, 2004, p. A11 Marie Lucille "Lucy" Rockhill, nee Roper, went to sleep in death on Aug. 14, 2004 at the age of 79 years. She was born in the desert outside of Superior, Ariz., on May 21, 1925 and lived all her life in Arizona. She was proud of being a "desert rat." Her parents were Mary Eva and W.D. Roper. Her father built Roper Lake, close to Safford, Ariz. "Grandma Rock" was the name she liked to use after she began to acquire grandchildren. She had 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Rochelle Rockhill and her grandson Eric Donahue. Lucy is survived by seven children: Shirley L. Donahue of Congress, Ariz., Roxanne Rockhill of Peeples Valley, Ariz., John D. Rockhill of Tempe, Ariz., Charles D. Rockhill of Congress, Ariz., Riley D. Rockhill of Congress, Ariz., Mabel Marie Rockhill-Plesher of Mesa, Ariz., and Tammy McLeod Rockhill-Hughes of Congress, Ariz. A memorial service is being planned. We miss our loving mother. |
