Arizona State Miner, Wickenburg Saturday, April 4, 1925 p1 c5 The body of Charles D Poston, "father of Arizona," has been removed from the old Jefferson street cemetery in Phoenix to Florence, where it will be interred at the summit of Poston's butte, thus fulfilling the expressed desire of Arizona's foremost pioneer. The removal of the remains was affected this week under a special body guard appointed by Governor Hunt. At the same time the tombstone which marked the grave in the Phoenix cemetery was removed for the purpose of placing it by the side of a native stone monument which has been in the course of construction for some time. The monument will be completed in about two weeks time, following which appropriate dedicatory exercises are planned by the Daughters of the American Revolution. See Also: Find A Grave |
