The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 3, 2004, p. B7 Guy H. Williams, Jr. of Wickenburg died Oct. 28, 2004 at the age of 84. He was born in Omaha, Neb., to Guy Harrison Williams and Mae Carney and lived there and in Lincoln, Neb., until graduating from the University of Nebraska in 1941. He subsequently became a flight instructor at an Army primary base in Lakeland, Fla., until Pearl Harbor, at which time he became a commissioned B-25 pilot in Louisiana. His Air Force service lasted three years, with a year and a half spent in China with the 14th Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1945. After his Air Force service, he flew for TWA in Kansas City. His various occupations went on to include the insurance business, real estate, and production of animal biologics and pharmaceuticals. Guy was sales manager for Ft. Dodge Laboratories in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and later president of Franklin Serum Company in Denver, Colo., both companies being subsidiaries of American Home Products. While residing in the Denver area, he was mayor of Cherry Hills Village and active in the real estate business. After moving to Scottsdale in June of 1983, Guy continued to work part time for human pharmaceutical companies as a representative in the Phoenix metro area. In 1998, after "truly" retiring, he moved to Wickenburg and among other activities became a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Guy's interests and affiliations included the American Legion, Quiet Birdmen, the 14th Air Force Association, Inc. and the enjoyment of music and his beloved pets. Guy was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Harriet Schwellenbach and Barbara Williams. Survivors include his wife Helen of 63 years, a sister Eleanor Steffan, daughters Jane Coleman and Cheryl Bush, a granddaughter Lisa Corboy and grandson Mark Danielson, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, and sons-in-law Earl Coleman and Robert D. Bush. Memorial services will be held Friday (Nov. 5) at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Wickenburg, P.O. Box 147, Wickenburg, AZ 85358. Wickenburg Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. |
