The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 17, 2004, p. B7 John Hagel, 88, passed away Nov. 15 in Sun City West. Mr. Hagel was born in Arkinson, Neb., on Nov. 23, 1915. He was the owner of Hagel's Prime Rib in Wickenburg for many years. He is survived by daughter Dixie Letherman, brother Walter Hagel and sister Elizabeth Gieblehause. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements were made by Frey Funeral Home of Wickenburg. --------------------------------------- The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ December 8, 2004, p. B6 John Hagel was born in Atkinson, Neb., to Henry and Anna Elizabeth Hagel. He left this Earth peacefully on Nov. 15, 2004, after a short illness. John's passion for cooking and pride in fine food sent him on his journey as a chef. After serving in the military as a head cook, John opened and owned many restaurants in the years to follow, including The Green Mill in Santa Rosa, Calif., Hagel's Midway Inn in Carson City, Nev., The Chef's Hat in Reno, Nev., and Hagel's Prime Rib in Wickenburg, Ariz. He will be missed by his family and friends but always remembered as the gentleman he was. John is survived by his daughter Dixie Lee Letherman and her husband Keith; sister Elizabeth Giebelhause and her husband Al; brother Adam "Walt" Hagel and his wife Margie; sister-in-law Helen Hagel; grandchildren Lon Letherman and his wife Candice, Koni Case and her husband Jeff; and great-grandchildren Jeremiah and his wife Jamie, and Justen, Lindze, and Janzten. John is also survived by loving nieces and nephews. John was looking forward to becoming the great-great-grandfather of soon-to-be Kylie. John is in the arms of the angels, and as per John's request, no services were held. The family wishes to thank all of those at Sun Health Hospice who took such loving care of John during his final days. Your kindness and warm hearts will be with us always. We also want to extend a special thank you to all of the wonderful friends that meant so much to John. Your kindness and compassion were always cherished by John and so appreciated by his family during this difficult time. |
