The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 17, 2004, p. B7 Rae L. Hughes, 82, of Morristown, Ariz., a retired secretary, died Nov. 15, 2004. Daughter of Bessie (Holt) and Elliott Powell, she was born at Carroll, Iowa and graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1938 and Fort Dodge-Tobin Business College in 1939. In 1943, she married 1st Lt. Charles Miller, who was a dive-bomber pilot in the Marine Corps. He died in 1944 in the South Pacific. In 1948, she married Ray Hughes who died in 1980. She moved to Wickenburg, Ariz. in 1984. Survivors include her children, Robert C. Miller of Gaston, S.C., Catherine Adair of Carlsbad, N.M., her twin sister Rebecca (Mrs. Robert) Rains of Spokane, Wash., and Ray Paul Hughes of Morristown, Ariz. Her foster brother Warren Moore of Omaha, Neb., also survives. She has six grandchildren: Jennifer Miller of Buffalo, N.Y.; Robin Jordan of Columbia, S. C.; Karen Quijano of Kingwood, Texas; Ray Ann, Mitchel Ray and Grace Hughes of Morristown, Ariz.; twin great-granddaughters Olyvia and Myranda York; and great granddaughter Sophia Quijano. Memorials can be made to the Calhoun County Museum in Rockwell City, Iowa, 50579. Her cremated remains will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rockwell City, Iowa. |
