The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ December 8, 2004, p. B6 Eddie Clark May was born on Jan. 18, 1928, in Sedalia, Mo., to James and Margaret Kemp May. He died on Dec. 3, 2004, in Wickenburg. Ed graduated from high school in Columbia, Mo., and enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country honorably in Japan during World War II, then again in Korea during the Korean War. After his release from the Army, he went to telegraphy school and upon completion at the age of 21 went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as a telegraph operator. He retired 40 years later in 1989 as the General Manager of Operations and Vice President of Service Support. He was active all of his life and loved the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, swimming and skiing, but most of all golf. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bonnie, and daughters Sherrie May of Camp Verde, Ariz., and Mackie D. Hansen (Dennis) of Manti, Utah. He has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James E. May, his sister Ruth Avery, and his daughter Trudy Lee. A visitation will be held at Frey Funeral Home today (Wednesday, Dec. 8) from noon to 1 p.m. Arrangements were handled by Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg. |
