The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 30, 2009, p. A17 Lottie Prather, 92 years of age, born to John and Martha (Proctor) Shook in Pierce Ariz., Sept. 4, 1917, died in Napa on Sept. 19. Growing up in Arizona, she graduated from Phoenix Union High School, went on to attend trade school and then obtained employment at Lockheed Aircraft during World War II. After the war, she and her husband Ralph moved to Wickenburg where they owned and operated the Purple Hills Motel. She served in Wickenburg as town clerk for a number of years. In 1960 they sold the motel and moved to San Jose where she devoted her time to being a wife and mother. Retiring to Sun City, Ariz., in 1981, she served as president of the City of Hope Ladies’ Auxiliary, president of the Lioness Club, and was an active member of the Willowbrook Methodist Church. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Ralph. Survivors include her children Patricia (Albert) Gutwein of Napa, and Jerry (Cindy) Prather of Woodbridge, Va., as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will be remembered at the regular worship service on Sunday, Oct. 11 at Yountville Community Church.
