Billy Richard Folston

Billy Richard Folston, 85, passed through the veil Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, in St. George, of mesothelioma. He was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Prescott, Yavapai County, Ariz., to Herbert V. and Ma. Beatriz (Tapia-Urias) Folston.

In 1948, Billy married E. Arden Meyer; they later divorced. He married Margaret L. Watson in San Pedro, Calif., on Dec. 23, 1962, and were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple Sept. 16, 1977.

At the age of 17, Billy enlisted in the U.S. Army/Air Force in Prescott, and served for the duration of WWII. In 1948, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Billy's hobbies were camping and fishing, which he taught his children and grandchildren to enjoy. His last employment was at Dixie Regional Medical Center at the Women's & Children's facility where he was "the linen/laundryman." He loved his job, and was loved and respected in return by all his co-workers, hospital employees and doctors alike.

The family wishes to thank Drs. Woodbury, Dartey, Rignell and Lemon, Southern Utah Home Care & Hospice and their staffs for their tender loving care.

Billy is survived by his wife Margaret and his children, E. Christine (Wayne) Harris of Las Vegas, Nev., Diana Piini of Temecula, Calif., Cathleen (Hill) Castro of Arleta, Calif., Billy Jr. of Portland, Ore., Charli (Cody) Fraughton of Centerville, Utah, John of San Diego, Calif., James (Noelle) of St. George, and Michael (Nicole) of Winchester, Calif. He also leaves his sisters, Virginia Folston, Caroline (Babe) Dominguez; brothers Johnny Carranza, Tony, Ernest and Larry Gomez; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Albert and sister Georgia (Ernesto) Rivera, sons-in-law Gregory C. Hill and Robert W. Castro, great-granddaughter Avi Jo Sessions and grandson Seth Fraughton.

A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at Metcalf Mortuary at 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, with a viewing to take place an hour previous at 1:30 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary.
