Alice Ramos Alvarez, 60, of Flagstaff, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at the Olivia White Hospice Home.

She was born June 30, 1948, in El Paso, Texas, to Magdalena and Manuel. Alice enjoyed life and her family. She enjoyed being with kids. She was a preschool aide and caretaker for many years; she loved to help people and provided daycare for many children and animals. At one time, she also was a tour guide for kids at a petting zoo. She enjoyed working with the animals and teaching the kids. She enjoyed drawing and painting, knitting, baking and crafts with her grandkids. Alice loved watching the Sci-Fi Channel, and being at the beach and feeling the sand between her toes.

She was loved and adored by her family, Monique and Richard, Veronica and Paul, and Paul and Nicole; and her grandchildren, Allison, Melissa, Richard JR., Jazmine, Steven, Isaac, Jaivia and Chloe Alece; her sisters, Rosemarie (Larry) and Diana (Albert); and brothers Leo (Donna) and Perry (Susan).

She was preceded in death by her mother, Magdalena; father Manuel; and stepdad Leo Acosta Sr.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, in Flagstaff.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002 or the American Cancer Society.
