The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 12/23/2008 Curtis Deon Garvin, 57, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa. He was born July 1, 1951, in Clay Springs to the late Louis Bryant and Jessie McFern (Jackson) Garvin. He lived in Clay Springs his entire life and worked as a logger for many, many years. Curtis served in the U.S. Army overseas in Germany for two years. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved animals. He raised livestock including cattle and horses and was well-liked by all dogs. Curtis is survived by his son, Johnathan Garvin of Clay Springs; seven sisters, Maxine Rose of Clay Springs, Lou Ann Boring of Clay Springs, Terry Henneberry of Roundup, Mont., Lena Ruth Petersen of Bullhead City, Bonnie Jean Poteet of Clay Springs, Pauline Hansford (Harry) of Snowflake and Phyllis Kay Thomas of Show Low; five brothers, Robert (Alice) Garvin of Clay Springs, Jimmy (Sandy) Garvin of Linden, Leon (Charlette) Garvin of Blaine, Ark., George (Ellen) Garvin of Clay Springs and Chris (Debbie) Thomas of Mesa. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bryant Garvin, Gilbert Garvin, Billy Garvin and Paul Thomas, as well as two sisters, Doreen Bowman and Shelly Brock. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the Pinedale Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where the visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Clay Springs Cemetery. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
