Barry Robert Arney, born to Robert & Clara ARNEY, passed away suddenly August 6, 2004 at his home in his native Glendale.

His wisdom, counsel, generosity, beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor will be sorely missed by his wife Nola, children Resa, Kyle, Erin (Jay DIXON) and Lesli; stepchildren Scot GOERNITZ and Jennifer SMITH (Dennis). He also leaves 15 grandchildren and a large and loving extended family.

He was a star athlete at Glendale HS, ASU and in the U.S. Air Force. Prior to enlisting, Barry was signed by the Yankees and he remained under contract while in the service. Rather than continuing a career in baseball, upon discharge he elected to return home with his young family.

In his 32-year career as coach, teacher and counselor at Peoria HS, Coach ARNEY touched the hearts and minds of those who crossed his path. During retirement, he enjoyed golf, travel, family and many friends.

In celebration of Barry's life, services will be at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship at Peoria High School in his honor. Contact Bobby Gonzalo at Peoria HS, (623) 486-6331.
