The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 01/20/2006 Dorothea J. Sparks-Cox, 73, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 in Show Low. She was born in McNary, she attended school in Phoenix where her father worked in Construction. She later met Charles Sparks in Phoenix and they were married. They moved to Cottonwood where they raised six children, later moving back to Phoenix. She was very sentimental; she had rhyme and reason for everything she did. Dorothy loved Christmas and made lots of candy and treats during the season. She loved candles, especially the "Yankee Candle Company" candles. Dorothea moved back to the White Mountains 18 years ago where she loved the pine trees, nature, birds, camping and fishing. She was a member of the Election Board of Pinedale, a life member of the VFW and a very faithful member of the Baptist Church. She married Raymond Cox Aug. 20, 1998 in Reno, Nevada. Dorothea worked as a sales clerk for Corral West and was very knowledgeable about western clothing. She loved country music. Dorothea was very devoted and loyal and she loved family gatherings. Her grandsons loved her cowboy beans and will miss them. She loved Navajo Tacos, the D-Backs "Gonzo" and the Dallas Cowboys. Dorothea loved the community and people of Pinedale. Dorothea is survived by her husband, Raymond Cox; children, Louis Ray, Kathy Lynne, Betty Jane and her step-son, Charles Cheshire; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Sparks; and three children, Charlene, Ronald Leon and Donald Eugene. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at the Burton Baptist Church, with a viewing from 12-2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Pinedale Cemetery.
