Carolyn Emile Fornadley, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Serenity Assisted Living in Lake Havasu City, AZ; after an extended battle for her health. She was born in Wiesbaden, Germany on April 21, 1929 to parents, Wilhelm Adolf and Karoline Schmidt. After surviving WWII, she immigrated to the USA in 1949 and obtained her US citizenship on September 17, 1951 in Fort Wayne, IN.

Carolyn and her family moved to Pomona, CA in 1956. Having taken drafting classes in Fort Wayne, she found employment at General Dynamics Corp. in Pomona, her tenure at GD/P lasted 36 years, where she was admired for her "worker bee" attitude and performance. Having started as a "B-draftsman", through education, practical experiences and hard work, she retired in August of 1992 as a Senior Group Design Engineer. Her last job assignment was managing and training the staff of computer-aided-design (CAD) facility.

She and her husband Frank moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ in March of 1994. Having no hobbies, due to the demands of the aerospace business, she had to learn how to live in retirement. Carolyn became a golfer, a perennial student in MCC's golf classes and a member of the London Bridge Golf Course. Her second adopted hobby was gambling, dining and entertainment in Laughlin at the Ramada Express. Both of these activities afforded an avenue to Carolyn's real interest, people and socializing. With an infectious smile, a good ear and gift of gab, she quickly made friends to all she met.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Frank; son, Scott M. McConnehey of Phelan, CA; grandson, Scott Jr. of Tacoma, WA; grandaughter, Heather Wood of Kirkland, WA; and sister, Elizabeth Altenburg of Vista, CA.

Visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
