Michael F. (Mickey) Meyer

Michael F. (Mickey) Meyer, 72, passed away July 25, 2009.

Born in Indianapolis, Ind. October 7, 1936, Mickey came to Tucson with his family at the age of six.

After attending Amphi H.S., he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict.

Upon leaving the Marine Corp., he began his career as a Master Automotive Mechanic, race car driver and avid race fan. Owning his own business (Meyer Automotive) he semi-retired at the age of 65 to devote his time to the sport he loved, auto racing. Mickey touched the lives of hundreds of race car drivers, race fans and friends in Tucson and throughout Arizona. He will be missed and loved by all.

Mickey is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara; sons, Joe (Erika), Michael "Mickey" Jr. (Christine), Perry (Pat); daughters, Rhonda (Sam), Vienna (Alex); sisters, Catherine (Bud), Ginny (George), Terry; brother, David; 15 grandchildren and 4½ great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mickey is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Naomi, brothers, Bob and Jerry and son, David.

Visitation will be Monday, August 3, 2009 at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, 3015 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson, AZ 5:00-8:00. Services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 9:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's name at any Wells Fargo Bank.
