The Arizona Daily Sun Flagstaff, Arizona Wednesday, October 07, 2009 Mercedes "Dee" Heimbach, 86, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family Oct. 5, 2009. She was born Nov. 5, 1922 in Milwaukee to Bernard and Anna Suleske. She was the youngest of nine children. She met the love of her life, the late William Heimbach, when she was 14 and married him when she was 18. They were happily married for 32 years. They, along with their two children, moved to Phoenix in 1962 where she worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. After retiring from the Post Office, She spent many hours at the Devonshire Senior Center in Phoenix, where she loved playing bingo and cards. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. She attended Mass regularly and when she was no longer able to attend, she watched Mass on TV. She moved to Flagstaff in 2007 to be near her daughter and family. She loved being with her family and watching her great-grandchildren play. She had a sweet tooth and loved dark chocolate. She also was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly. Mrs. Heimbach is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Pete) Russo of Flagstaff; her son, William (Carol) Heimbach of Fort Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents and all of her siblings. She will be remembered forever. A Rosary will be Friday at 11 a.m. with a memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel, 16 W. Cherry Ave. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery.
