Robert Aaron Williams (known to many long-time Prescottonians as Bob or Bobby) was born Oct. 27, 1969, at 9:14 p.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. His family moved to Prescott in 1983.

Bob passed away Oct. 4, 2009, early in the morning at Alamo Lake, Ariz. It was just shy of his 40th birthday, and friends had recently begun teasing him by calling him a "silverback." Bob was a partner at Coyote Joes Bar and Grill in downtown Prescott.

He spent the previous day camping on the lakeshore with close friends, enjoying some of the activities he most loved: hiking, hunting, talking, laughing, boating, fishing, swimming, and cooking gourmet food over a campfire. While his wife Lisa was not at the lake that night, Bob had excitedly chatted over dinner about their new home, their mutual love for Arizona and rock climbing, and their travels and adventures. Bob was a goal-driven optimist, looking forward to a bright future.

Bob is known for having unified many different people throughout town, helping forge unlikely friendships, while maintaining his own large circle of lifelong friends. From a young age he followed his parents' lead, cultivating a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial drive. He owned and managed several bars and clubs along Whiskey Row, starting at the age of 17. He was notoriously giving, always putting others' needs before his own.

His sense of humor was punny, sarcastic and witty. He had a thing for pockets, zippers, compartments and, later, organization. "Whatever" was one of his favorite words and, to make him laugh, Lisa would interrupt his television show by shaking her bum in front of the screen.

Bob was very brilliant, outscoring just about everyone in trivia and Sudoku (which he would do rapidly, upside down, daily at about 1 p.m. at Dinner Bell Cafe, eating eggs over medium and only Colombian coffee). He liked to eat his parents' great cooking, converse with them, and go on Harley runs with his father.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Williams (Orlando); his mother Marsha Ann Williams (Clay); father John Michael Williams; brother John Michael Williams Jr.; niece Katherine Arlene Williams; nephew John Michael Williams III; aunts and uncles Stanley R. and Nikki Williams, Carol J. and David Stahly, Mark A. and Jerri Clay, Morgan A. and Shelley Clay; many cousins; a mother-in-law (Debby Orlando), father-in-law (Nicholas Orlando), two sisters-in-law (Angela and Marissa Orlando), and many other extended in-laws and other relatives.

Bob is predeceased by maternal grandparents Annie J. Yutze and Marshal A. Clay, and paternal grandparents Mary Kathryn Williams and J.R. Williams.

Bob, all our heart and our love will be with you always. There are no words to convey the depth of our grief, but we know the love link will never be lost.

The public viewing is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69 in Prescott Valley. The public memorial service, which long-time family friend Carol Mumford will officiate, takes place tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley St., Prescott. A wake for Bob's community follows at Coyote Joes, 214 S. Montezuma St., Prescott and since Bob preferred to be cremated, a private service will follow in the woods in the future.

Sunrise Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.

Flowers and other contributions can be sent to Lisa at 3878 North Fairfax Road, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.
