| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, October 10, 2009 Gerald "Jerry" C. Dowell, age 76, passed away on Oct. 9, 2009, at the VA Hospital. He was born on May 11, 1933, in Long Beach, Calif., to Charles and Marjorie Dowell. Jerry attended Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, Calif. He joined the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 during the Korean War. After the war, he made a career as a firefighter, grocery clerk and handyman. Jerry loved all sports from softball to baseball to country dancing. He coached Little League and Youth Football. He loved any family gathering. Jerry is survived by his daughters Teri Dowell-Sandberg and Mary Ann Dowell; sons Mike Dowell and Jon Dowell; grandchildren Amy Jordan, Gregory Paterson Jr., Clay Patterson, Courtney Patterson, Jessica Dowell, and Jason Dowell; great-grandchildren Eethan and Kaylee; and brother Charlie Dowell.
