Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Friday, October 09, 2009 Vernon Dale Cave, 71, formerly of Flagstaff, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, in Phoenix, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 14, 1937, in Cherokee, Iowa. He was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and poker player extraordinaire. He owned several businesses in Flagstaff for 30 years before moving to Phoenix in 1991. Mr. Cave is survived by his wife, Y-Vette; daughters Sherri Brooks (Terry), Sandi Balmaceda (Ruben) and Shelly Almendarez (Arnold); sons Thayer Thacker (Lynn) and Thaddeus Thacker (Susanne); 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Vivian Bode (Doug); and a niece and nephew. A service will be Saturday at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Road, in Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix. |
