Robert S. Findlay, Jr.

A celebration of the life of Robert S. Findlay, Jr., was held at his Prescott Valley home on Saturday, Oct. 8. "Bob" Findlay died in Prescott on Sept. 24, [2005] age 78. He was buried at the National VA Cemetery in Phoenix on Sept. 28.

Findlay was born in Albany, N.Y., on May 14, 1927, the son of Robert Stewart Findlay, Sr., and his wife, Elizabeth Summers Powell. After service as a teenaged sailor in WW II, Bob attended Monmouth College and Rutgers University, both in New Jersey. Subsequently he entered a 40-year career in title insurance management.

After WW II Bob married his high school sweetheart, Arity Ann Jelliffe, and worked in New Jersey, California, and Arizona. The Findlays lived in the Prescott area for 12 years where Bob's interests included big band jazz, restoration of antique furniture, vintage automobiles, and a love of the west.

Survivors include Bob's wife of 55 years; son Robert III ("Rob") and wife Linda of Kingman; daughter Sally and husband Barrett Tillman of Mesa; sister Catherine and husband Dick Silver of North Carolina; and granddaughters Katrina and Tara Findlay. He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen Powell Findlay.
