Courier-News, Elgin, Illinois December 23, 2001 Virginia Lay, 83, of Clarkdale, AZ, formerly of Elgin, died December 16, 2001. She was born March 13, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Lay was employed by the Lee Wards Hobbycraft Store in Elgin for 21 years, retiring in 1980. She enjoyed craft work, reading, and traveled extensively with her husband. She was a member of the Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church of Cottonwood, AZ. Mrs. Lay resided in Arizona for sixteen years after leaving Elgin. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Buddy Richard "Dick" Lay; two sons, Michael R. (Sue) Lay and Scott C. (Mary Pat) Lay, both of Elgin; two sisters, Dorothy Danner of Bartlett and Suzanne Webber of Clearwater, FL; four granddaughters and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. A memorial service will be held in January 2002 at a time to be announced. Westcott Funeral Home of Cottonwood is assisting the family with arrangements. Donations may be made to the Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 14 S.
