Eugene B. (Salty) Dingman

Eugene B. "Salty" Dingman, 76, died Saturday, Aug 27, 1983, in Prescott.

Born Dec 31, 1906 in Rifle, Colo., he was a son of Melvin amd Margaret Brown Dingman. The family moved to Prescott by wagon in 1912.
Mr Dingman, a cowboy, ran wild mustangs on Black Mesa. In 1927, he and his brother Lloyd homesteaded and began ranching on Squaw Creek near Rock Springs.

He worked on such ranches in Arizona as the Bard, ORO, Double F Horseshoe, Long Meadow, Hidden Valley and Wineglass.

He later became a miner and worked in Arizona and New Mexico mines. He retired from the U.S. Smelting, Mining and Refining Co. at Vanadium, NM, in 1969 after 12 years as a flotation operator.

He then ranched at Radium Springs, NM, until 1974, when he returned to Prescott to retire.

Survivors include his wife, Silvia; three daughters, Mary Cearly of Fernwood, Idaho; Ann Sleep and Louise Von Tress, both of Mimbres, NM; a son, Carl Dingman of Riverside, Calif; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a nephew, Gail Dingman of Mayer.

Services will be held at 11am Tuesday, at Arizona Ruffner Funeral Home, with Rev Lloyd Ewart officiating. An expression of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association, Veterans Administration Center, Education Building 108, Prescott, or to another charity.
