The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, May 3, 2006 Robert S. Hall passed away at the VA Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona on May 1, 2006, following a very brief illness. He was 81 years of age. Bob was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Jan. 2, 1925, but he always considered Holland, Mich., his hometown. He lived in Holland from 1936 to 1952 and enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1942; he was honorably discharged in l946. Bob started his teaching career in Boyne City High School in Boyne City, Mich., in 1952, and moved to Benton Harbor, Mich., in 1953, where he taught in high school and college until 1965. He taught high school for one year in Traverse City, Mich., before moving to Arizona in 1966. Bob taught at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., from 1966 to 1969, when he moved to Prescott to become a member of the founding faculty at Yavapai College. He taught at Yavapai College until his retirement in 1982. Bob was an accomplished violinist and taught violin privately. He was the director of the Benton Harbor High School Orchestra while in Michigan. He also taught violin for Yavapai College and gave private lessons while in Prescott. Bob was devoted to his home and family and always saw beauty in nature, trees, flowers and music. He was the epitome of compassion, truth and honor, and he will be lovingly remembered for these qualities. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Evelyn; son Bruce Hall of Harrison, Ark.; and daughter Dr. Mary Hall and grandson Michael A. Howes of Alexandria, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 8, at First Congregational Church in Prescott, where Bob was a member. His final resting place will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery in Holland, Mich. Information provided by survivors. |
