Hugh Arthur Starling, 91, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., passed away on Oct. 11, 2009.

Hugh was a loving, caring husband and father. Born March 9, 1918, in Forest, Texas, he entered the Army at the age of 19 and served his country for 21 years as a career military man. He was a Masonic member of the Okinawa Lodge 118 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, both of which he was exceptionally good at.

He died peacefully at home. With him was his devoted wife of 66 years, Hazel; and his son, Kenneth, and daughter-in-law Kathy. He is also survived by his grandson, Andrew; granddaughter Ida Sue; and three beautiful great-grandchildren.

All who knew him will miss his big warm smile, his wonderful sense of humor and his natural Texas charm.
