Betsy Saum Berry, 88 years old and a Prescott resident for 62 years, was born to Robert and Alpha Ross of Stamford, Texas, on April 5, 1921. She died peacefully on Oct. 12, 2009.

Loving care was provided by Hospice staff at the Crossings.

She touched many lives and will be sorely missed.

Betsy Saum Berry, 88 years and Prescott resident 62 years was born to Robert and Alpha Ross, Stamford, Texas, April 5, 1921. She died peacefully October 12, 09. Loving care was provided by Hospice staff, at the Crossings.

She touched many lives and will be sorely missed.

Her first marriage of almost 50 years was to Sam Saum, a miner and early deputy sheriff. After his death she married Frank Berry of Prescott and traveled extensively abroad.

Betsy considered her primary role to be a homemaker however for many years she put her finance and educational law expertise to work for Yavapai County and retired as the deputy county superintendent. She was actively involved and lifetime member of Prescott United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteer work for Prescott People Who Care. She will be remembered for her kindess of heart and generosity. Lifetime interests include: nature, square dancing on the plaza to Sam’s fiddle music in the late 1940”s-early 50:s, trap shooting, playing cards, volunteer work and travel. Beloved family, friends, Bible study, prayer were most important to her.

Suvivors include;children; Susan Murphy, Prescott and Michael Saum, Gardnerville Nev.; three grandchildren, their spouses, two great- grandsons; sisters; Rosemary and Joann, Sacramento, Calif.

Private family services will be held.
