Joan M. Klevan

Joan M. Klevan, 76, of Mesa/Phoenix departed this life early the morning of July 27, 2003. She was born July 30th, 1926 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the oldest of five children.

She married Myer J. KIevan on October 22, 1953, and he preceded her in death on January 3rd, 1977. They moved with their three girls to Phoenix from Altoona in 1962. She retired in 1997 from South Mountain Physicians, where she had worked for 16 years as office manager. As a devoted member of Haddasah, she served as President and received the Woman of the Year award. During the years her daughters participated in Girl Scouts, Joan served as Troop Leader. In her retirement years, she lived in Mesa, near her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending lots of time with them, always ready to sew an outfit for the girls, or play games with Robby. The entire family will greatly miss her quick wit, her kindness, and her caring ways. We all love you Mom.

She is survived by her three daughters, Adrienne Marsh, of Ft. Smith, AK, Beckie Hastings (Robert), of Gilbert, AZ, and Laurie Klevan, of Belton, TX, her sisters, Adelaide Lykens of Altoona, PA, and Carol Acosta, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, brother, Ernest McClellan, also of Altoona, and grandchildren, Robby, Chelsea and Genevieve Hastings. She was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Laurie Houchin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or your favorite charity. Visitation, Wednesday, July 30, 2003, A. L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 West Bethany Home Road.
