Kenneth P. Link, Commander, USNR, former resident of Prescott, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Ken was born in Grand Junction, Colo., on Dec. 28, 1968, to Donna (Link) Rigby and John W. Link. He attended Prescott schools from kindergarten through high

school, graduating from Prescott High School in 1987. As a small boy in kindergarten, Ken's dream was to become a Navy pilot. Because of his outstanding scholastic achievements, he was awarded a Navy ROTC scholarship to the University of Arizona. Upon graduation from UA, Ken received a commission of Ensign in the U.S. Navy and was selected for flight school in Pensacola, Fla. After completion of flight training, Ken's proudest moment was receiving his Naval aviator wings in Corpus Christy, Texas.

He had truly accomplished his childhood dream of becoming a Navy pilot.

During Ken's many years of active duty with the Navy, he flew countless missions all over the world, from the Middle East, to Europe and Washington D.C. He was also a Navy instructor pilot. His warm, kind, humorous personality attracted friends from every country he traveled. Ken believed he had the greatest job in the world. He was proud to be an American, proud to serve his country, and was a true patriot. In recent years, Ken was a commercial pilot for U.S. Airways and, before that, American Airlines.

Besides serving his country for many years, Ken considered his two beautiful daughters, Brittany and Alexa Link, to be his proudest accomplishments in life. He will be remembered as a loving father to his daughters, a kind and gentle husband to his wife, a caring and thoughtful son to his parents, and a friend to all who were blessed to cross his path in this world. His brother David and his sister Kari thought the world of Ken.

Ken was a great chef, a lover of food, the outdoors, fishing and camping and watching the Food Network for recipe ideas. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and loved children and dogs. His humor and silliness enriched the lives of so many, as did his Gumbo recipe.

Ken is survived by his wife Melissa Link of Fort Worth, Texas; his daughters, Brittany and Alexa Link and their mother, Melanie Hinson Link of Mansfield, Texas; his mother Donna Rigby of Prescott, Ariz.; his father and stepmother,

John and Marion Link of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his brother and sister-in-law David and Jessica Rigby of Prescott, Ariz.; his sister and brother-in-law, Kari and Sean Tucker of Ohio; his aunt and uncle, Lori and Keith Hefner of Phoenix, Ariz.; his uncle and aunt, Tom and Cheryl Kirby of Mesa, Ariz.; his aunt and uncle, Janet and Willie Lowther of Fowler, Colo.; and many cousins and nephews. Ken is also survived by members of the Rigby family who were so important to him in his life, including Steven M. Rigby of Prescott; Janine Rigby Sauer and her husband Don; and Mark and Linda Rigby. Ken was and is so very loved and will be missed by all.

A memorial service for friends and family will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Prescott Community Church, 3151 Willow Creek Road. Pastor Dave Ellis will officiate.
