The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, October 13, 2009 Polly Louise Hanna passed from this earth on Oct. 10, 2009, at her son and daughter-in-law's home in Prescott, Ariz. Polly was born on Dec. 29, 1915, to Orson P. Greer and Emma Belle Brown in Mesa, Ariz. Polly was a third-generation Arizonan. The city of Greer, Ariz., was named after her great-grandfather and his family. Polly graduated from Arizona State with a degree in counseling and worked for many years as a high school counselor in Huntington Beach, Calif. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Pinetop, Ariz., where they owned a real estate company. They moved back to Phoenix and after a few years moved to Prescott. Polly is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Dorinda Hanna; two grandsons, Paul (Terri) and Scott; and three great-granddaughters. Polly was preceded in death by her son Russell Dean in 1943 and her husband Lyle Hanna in 1998, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. Polly had a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions in the church. There will be a private graveside service for the immediate family. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Information provided by survivors. |
