David Warren Hall

David Warren Hall died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, in Englewood, Colo., after a long illness. David was born on June 8, 1935, to Lawrence Monroe Hall and Helen Wright Fox in Las Vegas. The family moved to Kingman that same year. David attended Kingman Grammar School and graduated from Mohave County High School in 1953.

In May 1957, he gained his B.S. degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson. The Alpha of Arizona (Arizona University) elected David in 1957 to the distinguished society of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1963, he received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology (Cal-Tech). He was a member of the American Chemical Society.

In 1963, Dr. Hall was named advanced research chemist at Marathon Oil Company's Denver Research Center. Hall, who joined Marathon in 1962, was the inventor of a new method for production of a raw material for synthetic rubber, one of several inventions there.

He is survived by three children, Elizabeth (Bob) Sowers, David Warren Hall Jr., and Caro (Bruce) Nishioka; five grandchildren, Jesse (Erica) Holloway, Mary Holloway, Jennifer Holloway, Nicolas Nishioka and Suzu Nisioka; four great-grandchildren, Lexis, Starrlynn, and James Holloway and Alana Holloway; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are sisters, Evelyn Rae Price and Norma Jean Rucker of Kingman.
