Normand Eugene LaCarra went home to be with our Lord in heaven on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009. Normand was born on Sept. 9, 1925, in Los Angeles. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in Kingman for pilot training. When he arrived in Kingman he soon learned that gunners were needed much more. He became a lower ball gunner on a B-17 named Flying Fortress. Normand flew 15 missions in WWII and was later discharged in Fort Bliss, Texas, on May 5, 1946, as a Sergeant.

Normand went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Los Angeles and became a yardmaster. He retired from the railroad in 1986 after almost 40 years of service.

Normand enjoyed golfing, sport fishing, traveling and cooking.

In September 1986, he began his retirement and a new chapter in his life when he and Robbin became a couple.

Normand is survived by his wife, Robbin of Kingman; son, Nick LaCarra of Hawaii; and step-daughter, Sharon (Ray) Diaz of Carson City, Nev.

Normand is referred by Robbin as "Gentle Spirit." We are grateful for his service to our country. Your journey is now complete.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Praise Chapel, 419 Harrison St., Kingman.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the savings account for Robbin LaCarra at Mohave State Bank on Hualapai Mountain Road.
