(Mar. 7, 1883 - Jan. 6, 1977)

Lydia Jane Brown was born to George Pruitt and Adeline Dunn Jackson, March 7, 1883 in Coryell County, near Gatesville, Texas. She died January 6, 1977 in Safford, Graham County, Arizona. Her final resting place is in the Show Low, Arizona cemetery by her husband Charles and some of their children.

Lydia Jane was proud of her Texas heritage and loved her father, George Pruitt dearly. Being the youngest girl, she followed him where ever he went, hunting rabbits, looking for gold and treasures. She had many stories to tell about her family's adventures in all the moves they made in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

Lydia Jane and Charles Francis Brown were married February 28, 1899 in Luna Valley, Socorro County, New Mexico. They were living in Blue, Arizona at that time and drove to Luna in a buggy to be married. She and Charles raised ten children, five boys and five girls, all of whom lived to adulthood.

Lydia was a devoted mother and loved all her children. She taught the girls to keep house and cook. She was a jolly person and loved to reminisce about old times. She was also a deeply religious person and loved to sing the old hymns. She had a beautiful voice and sang to all her babies. She was missed by all her family when she was gone.

We love you Mom.
