George B. Niewenhous

George B. Niewenhous died May 18, 2006, at Bob Stump VA Medical Center. He was bom Oct. 11, 1922, in New York, N.Y., the son of August S. and Mary K. (Kelly) Niewenhous. George was 83 years old.

George proudly served in the United States Army during World War II with the 83rd Field Artillery Battalion in Central Europe, Rhineland, Sicily, Southern France and Tunisia.

George is survived by his children, Bunney Sweeny, Carrie Niewenhous, George Niewenhous, Andy Carpenter, and Richard Niewenhous; and two sisters, Mary Gormly and Louise Grady.

A Christian Burial Service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, Cortez and Carleton, with full military honors by the American Legion Post #6.

Private cremation at Bradshaw Crematory with inurnment at Mountain View Cemetery on Wednesday, May 24.
