Bill 0. Murphy, age 70, died May 4, 2006, at his home in Skull Valley. He was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Prescott, Ariz., to Lee P. and Jean Murphy.

Bill worked on many cattle ranches in Arizona, most of them in Yavapai County. He grew up on his father's cattle ranch and followed those footsteps to a lifelong career of a cowboy.

On rough country ranches in Arizona he learned, out of necessity, to be a "Jack of All Trades." He was a respected, cowman and well known for his craftsmanship of leather chaps', tapaderos, metal bits and spurs. He was a renowned tracker and lion hunter.

Bill was sought out by many a young man for his knowledge and he took pride in passing this know-how on.

Bill was preceded in death by his first son, Billy, in 1974 aad his first wife, Pat, in 1976.

Bill is survived by his brother, Robert Murphy and sister, Lilly Nard; son, Lee Murphy and wife Connie; daughter, Katy Liest and husband Larry; and grandchildren, Kalya and Kasey Liest; and by his exwife, Marylou Henthorn.

There will be a celebration of Bill's life on Saturday, May 20, at 1 p.m. at the Spider Ranch Headquarters.
