DELMAR DEE JOHN

Delmar Dee John, 88, of Buckeye died Dec. 26, 2008.

Mr. John was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Safford to Emma Irene Cluff and Charles Porter. He graduated from Gila Junior College and received a full-ride scholarship to play football at Brigham Young University. He was drafted into the Army and served from 1942 to 1946 as a crew chief in the 551st Air Engineer Squadron. He married Nita Jean Lewis in 1948. In 1953, he moved to Buckeye and began a farm business in the Rainbow Valley/Buckeye areas.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; one son, Marvin; four daughters, Kathy Osborn, Beverly Probst, Phyllis Heiden and Paula Young; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1002 E. Eason Ave. in Buckeye. Services will begin at 11 with interment to follow at Louis B. Hazelton Cemetery in Buckeye.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
