The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 03/26/2004 Lorin Laurice Hatch, 71, died in Woodruff March 22, 2004. He was born and raised in Woodruff, and is one of the few - along with his wife Janet who has lived in Woodruff all of his life. He married Jane DeWitt May 20, 1955. He worked for the Arizona Department of Transportation for 38 years and was a Chief Project Supervisor. He retired in 1989, Laurice was also a farmer and loved working in his garden. He was the water boss for the irrigation district and was over the water department for the community of Woodruff. Laurice was also the Sexton for the Woodruff Cemetery. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a high priest in the Woodruff Ward and had served as the Ward Bishop for 11 years from 1963-1974. He also served as Ward Clerk and Finance Clerk. Laurice served on the Stake High Council and had served as a Branch President in Indian Wells on the Navajo Indian Reservation for two years. Laurice was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and was devoted to his church and served faithfully in any capacity to which he was called. Laurice is survived by his wife, Janet Hatch of Woodruff; three sons, Stanley Laurice (Heidi) Hatch of Holbrook, John Lee (Ramie) Hatch of Woodruff, Don Evan (Rhonda) Hatch of Woodruff; four daughters, Coleen (Curtis) Baker of Snowflake, Valarie Hatch of Holbrook, Wendy (Dale) Winger of West Jordan, Utah, Joyce Hatch of Woodruff; two brothers, A. Dell Hatch of Phoenix, Orland R. Hatch of Gilbert; five sisters, Inez Gardner of Mesa, Grace Pulsipher of Stockton, Missouri, Aleen Scorse of Holbrook,, Janelle Ferguson of Peoria, Verla Cook of Tempe; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and a sister and grandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at the Woodruff Ward Chapel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 26 at Owens Mortuary in Holbrook and one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be in the Woodruff Cemetery.
