George Pickering, 51, of Salome, Arizona died October 17. He was born August 15, 1958 in Phoenix, the son of Bobby and Marie Brewster Pickering.

He was a graduate of Coconino schools. He was operator of the Big Tree Swap Meet in Flagstaff and was also a equipment mechanic.

He served in the Marine Corps earning the Silver Star, Bonze Star, Navy Cross, Purple Heart, Expert Rifle Badge, Navy Achievement, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Mast, and Letter of Appreciation.

George was spokesperson for the Homeowners Association of Salome. He was a fisher, hunter, coin collector. A fan of the Green Bay Packers, he enjoyed sports. His interests included bears of all sorts. He will be remembered as one who laughed and loved forever.

He was preceded in death by his father Bobby Pickering; he leaves his mother Marie Brewster and stepfather Bill of Cottonwood; brothers, Art (Bonnie) Pickering of Flagstaff, Beecher (Valerie) Pickering of Prescott Valley; sisters, Debbie (Marshall) Schlene of Surprise and Cindy (Robert S.) Apodaca of Flagstaff and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday October 24 in the Verde Valley Christian Church at 2 PM.
