Devorie Lynn Griffiths
(June 2, 1963 - October 20, 2009)

Devorie Lynn Griffiths, 46, of Vernon, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Summit Regional Medical Center in Show Low.

She was born June 2, 1963, at Albany, OR, the daughter of Dan and Mary (Ohlwiler) Reece. At age seven, she moved with her family to Silver City, NM, where she was raised. She graduated from Silver City High School in 1981. She earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Lamson Business College in Phoenix.

She was married to David Russell “Russ” Griffiths on September 25, 1982, in Phoenix. Following her marriage, they moved to Portal, AZ, where she and her husband were instrumental in bringing Portal Rescue, a volunteer emergency medical and fire service into existence. Devorie served as both president of the organization and then lone dispatcher. She was a loving wife and mother first and foremost, but also a business owner. She owned and operated the Portal Peak Lodge Café and Store for many years.

After moving to Vernon in 2003, she and her husband owned 3D Storage. She also worked as a commercial banker at Stockman’s Bank and was currently employed at National Bank of Arizona.

Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend, Devorie is loved and missed tremendously.

Survivors include her husband of twenty-seven years, David Russell Griffiths of the home; daughter, Nicole Erin Griffiths; son, Daniel Lee Griffiths and wife Jennifer; father, Daniel Francis Reece; sister, Leann Gayle Kozeliski; in-laws, Sandra and Charles Griffiths. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Louise Reece; brother, Darrell Joseph Reece; grandparents, Dorothy and Charles Ohlwiler and Fern and Dale Miller.

Viewing will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon Monday, October 26, 2009, at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City, NM.

Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. New Mexico time (noon Arizona time) at Baca’s Funeral Chapel.

Burial will follow at Memorial Lane Cemetery in Silver City. A memorial service celebrating Devorie's life will be held at Licano's in Show Low on Saturday, November 7, at 6:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Portal Rescue, PO Box 16331, Portal, AZ 85632
