The Wickenburg Sun Wickenburg, Arizona August 28, 2002 Lorene Koller Seaman Lorene Koller Seaman was born in Summersville, Mo. In 1916 and died Aug. 23, 2002 in Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Ariz. The second of five daughters (and no sons!) and raised on a farm, she learned to drive mules, ride horses and milk cows at a young age. She was also an accomplished seamstress, cook and artist. She married a young schoolteacher, Charles Seaman, in 1934. They soon headed "out west" to start their new life and settled in Phoenix, and have been in Arizona ever since. They were married almost 62 years when Charles died in 1996. Lorene and her husband owned and operated several small businesses over the years and also spent much of their time fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and exploring most of the western United States. In their later years they moved to Circle City to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and George Wilkins, and then Lorene lived with them in Wickenburg the last four years. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Becky Wilkins of Congress, Debbie Jo and (Paul) Wright Jr., George (and Kim) Wilkins Jr., and Stefanie Kirkendall, all of Wickenburg; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Also surviving her are two sisters, Audrey Taylor of Mesa, and Connie (and Dean) Benson of Odessa, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, and her great-grandson, Jake Thomas. Services will be at Fellowship Baptist Church, 71 N. Jefferson St., Wickenburg, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. We thank Hospice of the Valley for her wonderful care. Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements. See Also: Find A Grave |
